A 7th grade volleyball coach moved me to a position I didn't ask for. I didn't understand it then, but that decision, made by someone who could see something in me I couldn't yet see, eventually set me up to realize my dream of a professional volleyball career. All-American, national championship runner-up, co-captain, and eventually leading Evreux's professional team to #1 in the French league.
What I learned wasn't just how to play. It was what elite development looks like: coaches who tell you the hard truth, specialty coaches who build the specific skill, and a culture where being developed is expected. I've never seen a championship team without one. And a team doesn't win or lose on the court. It wins or loses in the space between its ears, the part that connects to the heart.
I carried that into every room after, from ad agencies to global organizations to stages on four continents. I've also founded and grown three companies, and nothing reveals you to yourself faster than building something that depends on you. That's why I believe psychological expansion isn't separate from business growth; it's the catalyst for it. My ARISE™ framework gives structure to the gap between where someone is and what they're capable of.
